Do Anti Aging Products Work?

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

I was visiting with my sister and brother in law the other day and an interesting conversation came up.  My mother and sister were talking about cosmetics and anti aging products and one of them was called Olay Regenerist and my brother in law started making jokes about Olay “miracle workers”, or Olay “hope in a jar” and others.  While he was teasing my sister and mother, something struck me as interesting and I wanted to explain that a little bit more.

Many women are looking for anti aging products and expecting them to instantly make them look like they did in high school or college. The hope is that the wrinkles and bags around the eyes and dark circles will disappear overnight like the ads promise.  It does not work that way.  When you start an anti aging regimen, you will be applying several creams and lotions in the morning and then several again at night.  It will take a few weeks and months before you start to see lasting results.  But if you practice them faithfully, you will start seeing the wrinkles slowly start to get smoother and the dark circles start to slowly lighten up.

If you keep smoking and practicing unhealthy habits, you will not get good results no matter which anti aging products you are using.  You have to eat the right anti aging foods that promote healthy cell growth and avoid the fatty processed foods that cause you to gain weight and get saggy skin.

There are some proven anti aging products that work but you have to be a little patient. It may be hard to deal with the teasing and looks you get from people, but do your best to maintain a cheerful and positive attitude as those are keys to a long happy life.  Don’t lose hope. And just ignore all the people who tease you about your wrinkles and skin, they will be there soon enough.

Natural Face Lift: The Secret Weapon Of Women Who Look Young Without Surgery

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

You’d have a hard time finding a women that has undergone a plastic surgical procedure and they’re itching to go back and do it again. These surgeries are usually quite painful after completed, sometimes they don’t look as great as the doctor had assumed they would, but after all what other options do you really have?

Well, I’m glad you asked that, because there are more and more women realizing that there are natural face lift procedures you can try before going under the knife. So before you do jump on board for cosmetic surgery I’d suggest you check out non surgical face lifts first. There are quite a few of these natural treatments you can look into before you sign up for a surgical procedure.

What are your Natural Face Lift Alternatives?

It might sound nuts but face exercises are a popular method of toning and firming sagging skin around the eyes. By repeating several movements each day you actually strengthen your facial muscles as you would any other part of your body.

Results have been mixed for facial exercises. Some women see great results and swear by it, while others think the process is more of a scam.

Wrinkle creams have been in huge demand for more then the last 10 years. The main reason for this is we have a quickly aging population and more of that population is making more money, therefore they want results, and want them fast. The flip side to using wrinkle creams is that most of them don’t produce fast if any results.

Before you spend any money on natural face lift products be sure you do some research first. Many anti aging gadgets and wrinkle creams are capable of hiding the appearance of dark eye circles and wrinkles in only minutes. This is how they entice you to purchase their product. You buy into the product believing you’ll see fast and big results, however in the end it doesn’t end up happening.

Protect yourself and your dollars from disappearing by doing some research before you buy. Reading testimonials and feedback from consumers are worth their weight in gold. It might take a bit of time but it will be well worth it to ensure you buy a product that makes a difference.

How To Get Rid Of Undereye Circles For Less

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

If there was a way you could afford to look ten years younger and get rid of your undereye circles without spending your life savings, would you do it?

I know I would and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. But it seems like each year the cost of anti aging skin creams and treatments tends to significantly increase. The International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM) just predicted that demand for these products will increase in 2009.

The IAPAM also said in the coming year we will see demand for minimally invasive procedures like Botox and dermal fillers reach their highest levels.

But in these tough economic times, the high price tags that go along with these anti aging treatments just aren’t worth it. Now there are so many places online to find discounted name-brand products that work just as well. And if you have hollow dark eye circles and think a dermal filler is the answer, then why not try a dermatologist recommended concealer/anti aging skin serum for a fraction of the cost?

The choice is yours.

Nighly Skin Care

Monday, January 19th, 2009

A lot of people get so frustrated by the dark area under or around their eyes. They don’t realize there are things you can do every night before you sleep to help those dark eyes become bright eyes. Try adding these nightly skin care tips to your skin care regimen.

First, you have to thoroughly wash your face. Your skin, like the rest of your body, does its repairing to distressed skin cells at night. You don’t want your body to work overtime so make sure the cleanser you use contains moisturizer and vitamins.

Second, find a good PM cream to help your skin repair itself. Try Gentle Solution Repair PM by Arcona. It helps slough off dead skin cells and provides regeneration to the skin cells underneath the top layer.

Finally, make sure you get a good night sleep. You’d be amazed how much a little extra sleep can help alleviate anxiety caused by stress.

Botox May Be A Problem, Not A Solution

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Sure, you may have heard glamorous success stories about how Botox has changed “so-and-so’s” life. But the truth is there is a down side to it also. A down side that has a lot of traumatic, life-threatening consequences. So if you think you know the solution to dark circles and wrinkles, read this first and then decide.

  • The FDA has warned that Botox injections have lead to serious respiratory problems and numbness/loss of expressiveness in the face.
  • Other conditions caused by local injections of Botox, or botulinum toxin, include: dysphagia, dysphonia, dyspnea and overall weakness.
  • Side effects from this procedure have been reported from one day to several weeks after the procedure occurred.
  • The FDA recommends that all healthcare professionals provide their patients with accurate information regarding side effects and other symptoms related botulism.

The consequences of choosing Botox can be extremely dire so before you decide on a treatment for your wrinkles and dark circles, please seek alternative methods. Simply because one Botox procedure worked for one of your friends does not mean it will work for you. Consult a dermatologist to more accurately find a solution that’s right for you.

Home remedies and other tips

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Try some of these methods and remedies with things you probably already have at home. Results will vary because no two people’s skin types are exactly alike. These are just a few solutions I’ve found that women said were the most effective at getting rid of the dark shadowy areas under their eyes.
1. Cucumber is very beneficial in reducing dark circles due to its cooling effects. Cut thin slices of cucumber and place them directly over the eyes. Keep them for about fifteen minutes. Do this every night before going to bed. It will give a restful sleep and will reduce the dark circles in the morning. Cucumber slices are very beneficial when the dark circles are caused due to stress.

2. Another simple method is to dip cotton pieces in water and place them over the eye. Here water is the treating agent. Its coolness soothes the eyes. A better effect can be achieved by using rose water instead of simple water.

3. The peel of a potato can also be placed on the eye. Do this every night before going to sleep. Since potato peels can attach better to the eyelids, this method is preferable over cucumber slices.

4. Almond oil massage is beneficial in case you are suffering from dark circles. Ideally, the massage must be done at night time, and the eyes must not be opened after that until morning. So, this must be done when going to bed.

5. Prepare a paste of nutmeg in milk. Apply this on and around the eyelids before going to bed.

6. You can even put used tea bags around the eyes to get good results. The alkaloids in the tea help to renew the skin around the eyes.

Be careful what you buy

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

I’m always coming across products both online and in retail stores that say things like “look ten years younger”, “eliminates wrinkles in 24 hours” or “guaranteed dark circles solution”. Well even if what they say is accurate (which it hardly ever is), does that mean these products won’t cause any long term problems?

For instance, one particular product claimed that in just 24 hours, “70% of women saw the look of fine lines softened.” Yet this same product listed in its ingredients cetearyl alcohol, glycerin, peptides and other harmful chemicals. How can companies claim their products help your skin when they may actually be hurting it?

Sure, you may see some improvement in the short term, but in the long run these products can actually cause permanent damage. So how do you know which products will work in the short and long run?

For starters, read the labels on all products you use. Make sure they contain natural ingredients derived from plants, herbs and vitamins. Get rid of anything with harmful chemicals. If you’re really serious about getting rid of your dark eye circles the right way, then do some research and study what the industry professionals are saying.

Vitamins and minerals to look for

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

These are some effective vitamins and minerals you should look for in your eye skin care products. Keep in mind the products you use can contain some harmful chemicals so always check the labels on all products you use.

Vitamin A (Retinol, Tretinoin and Retinyl Palmitate)

When Vitamin A is added to a product in a specific concentration, it has been found to be very effective at reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin tone (the appearance of puffy eyes and dark circles) and exfoliating the skin.

Some of the best results may be from higher concentrations of Tretinoin, A form of Vitamin A available only by prescription.

Be sure to use a broad spectrum sunscreen when using products with Vitamin A- try the new Clinique Medical Pre/Post Formula Daily SPF 38.

Vitamin C Ascorbic Acid

Applied topically, this antioxidant can reduce fine lines and eye wrinkles and has been shown to improve collagen production. Many products on the market do not contain enough Vitamin C or even the most absorbable form of vitamin C for effectiveness. L-Ascorbic Acid is the preferred form. 10 - 15% seems to be the preferred amount.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

This skin softening and healing ingredient is a popular addition but it’s effectiveness too depends on quantity and quality of Vitamin E used. It can be synthetically derived. Look for natural Vitamin E with a high potency.

Vitamin K

This natural anti aging ingredient has been finding it’s way in to our skin care product lately for it’s ability to diminish dark circles and even out skin tones.

Leave a comment below and let me know how helpful this was!

Avocado helps keep skin from aging

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Still worried about the dark circles under your eyes? Well, help might come in an unlikely place, avocados. Yes, avocados have proven to be very beneficial to skin cells.

It’s actually certain sugars found in avocados, for example D-manno-heptulose, that are solid boosters of collagen in the top layer of skin. Of course, this is where the discoloration is found in the skin. The avocado sugars are also found to produce an antimicrobial layer over the skin acting as a protectant against bacteria. Simply stated, it keeps the skin clean and healthy-looking.

Currently there aren’t any products out there that use this breakthrough ingredient yet. There are companies out there still trying to develop a safe, clean method to extract the avocado oil and formulate a consumer-friendly product to sell in stores.

Simply smearing avocados on your face probably won’t work. But in the meantime, take a look at the Eye Skin Care Secrets page and discover the Seven Secrets of Ageless Eyes.
